Help Haiti

I am sitting here at 11 pm on a Monday night unable to sleep, so I am watching the repeat of the Larry King special which raised over 5 million for aid to Haiti.  The first thing I did was make a donation myself.  The second thing I did was take mental stock of all I am lucky to have, and I will just name the basics here...indoor plumbing, clean water, a toilet and a warm, dry, safe place to sleep tonight.  So many in Haiti and around the world just do not have these simple necessities.

I get so caught up in my day to-to-day world with my job, my clients and my life, that I need to remember to stop and give thanks for what I do have, and remember that I can help those that do not have these things.  

I hope anyone that reads this can stop and lend a hand as well.  We may fee that the $10, $20, $50 dollars we donate is not much, but every dollar counts.  We just need to help in any way we can.

I have listed many ways you can help.  Please find one that fits you, and please just help!

Text "Haiti" to 90999 and $10 will be added to your cell phone bill. All the money will go to the Red Cross.

People who want to help those affected by the Haitian earthquake can make a donation to the American Red Cross International Response Fund at Redcross.org or by calling 1-800-RED-CROSS.

Donations can also be sent to the American Red Cross, P.O. Box 37243, Washington, D.C. 20013, or online at www.redcross.org.

If you would like to donate specifically to the Haiti relief effort, please indicate so on your check or when you call, and your donor intent will be honored.

Clinton Foundation
Donate online at www.clintonfoundation.org/haitirelief to help provide immediate relief and long-term support to earthquake survivors. Text "HAITI" to 20222 and $10 will be donated to relief efforts, charged to your cell phone bill.

AmeriCares

This nonprofit disaster relief organization delivers medicine, medical supplies and aid to people in crisis around the world. To donate, call 1-800-486-HELP or go to www.AmeriCares.org  

Donations will go toward medicine and medical supplies and for expenses for providing that medical aid.

Care

This humanitarian organization's main focus is to fight global poverty, specifically by empowering marginalized women and girls. To donate to the Haiti relief fund effort, go to www.Care.org  or call 1-800-521-CARE. Money will go toward food, water and sanitation, shelter and emergency health response.

Direct Relief International

Direct Relief provides medical attention to those in need on an ongoing basis and in emergencies. Monetary donations go toward medical aid, supplies and equipment in Haiti. To donate, go to www.directrelief.org       or call 805-964-4767 and 800-676-1638, or go through Google Checkout.

Medecins sans Frontieres (Doctors Without Borders)

The humanitarian organization delivers medical care to people caught in crisis. Donations to its Haiti relief efforts will go toward repairing the obstetrics and trauma hospitals in Haiti that were damaged in the earthquake. They also will go to transporting an additional 70 doctors and medical supplies to the island in an effort to set up makeshift emergency medical response centers. The Salvation Army

The Salvation Army's mission is to provide food, shelter, clothing and spiritual comfort during disasters. To donate money, go to www.salvationarmyusa.org      or call
1-800-SAL-ARMY. Make sure you designate the donation for "Haiti Earthquake." Money will go to the Salvation Army in Haiti, which will determine the country's immediate needs, including water, food, medicine and transportation.
